Per the resolution, Ms. Diem, currently Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors, has requested to step down from the Board and discontinue her involvement due to personal reasons. The Board also agreed to present her resignation to the upcoming General Meeting of Shareholders for consideration and approval as per regulations.
In addition, Sacombank authorized the Board Chairman to allocate a bonus fund to recognize Ms. Diem’s contributions during her tenure as the former Acting General Director.
Previously, on May 22, the Sacombank Board of Directors decided to relieve Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem from her position as General Director. The bank also appointed Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhung as Acting General Director.

Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem, born in 1973 in Quang Ngai, is one of the few female senior leaders in Vietnam’s banking industry with a long tenure, associated with the restructuring process of the Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank)
She joined Sacombank in 2002 as an accounting staff. In over two decades with the bank, she has taken on various roles in credit, customer service, internal audit, debt handling, and regional management.
In July 2017, Ms. Diem was appointed as Sacombank’s General Director, replacing Mr. Phan Huy Khang. She directly oversaw the nearly eight-year restructuring process while the bank addressed a large volume of non-performing assets and maintained system stability post-merger.

Under Ms. Nguyen Duc Thach Diem’s leadership, the bank’s non-performing loan ratio fell below 2% in 2020. After-tax profits also consistently increased during the 2017-2024 period.
