Developed by technology company Kuickwheel, this unique vehicle combines the flexibility of an electric trike with the freedom of flight. With a price tag of 498,800 Chinese yuan (approximately 1.8 billion VND), the Skyrider X6 is now available for pre-order on the JD.com e-commerce platform, promising a new era of mobility.

The Skyrider X6 boasts a smart hybrid design, seamlessly transitioning between road and air travel. On the ground, it functions as a modern electric trike with a top speed of 70 kph and an impressive range of up to 200 km. With a few simple adjustments, the Skyrider X6 transforms into a personal flying machine, utilizing a six-axis electric propulsion system and six propellers to take off vertically and reach a maximum flight speed of 72 kph for up to 20 minutes.

To optimize performance in both modes, the vehicle’s body is crafted from advanced materials such as carbon fiber composite and aerospace-grade aluminum alloy, reducing weight while ensuring durability. Safety is a top priority for Kuickwheel, evident in the integration of intelligent flight technologies. The trike supports automatic take-off, landing, route planning, and pre-set flight paths, while also offering manual control via a joystick for experienced pilots.

Both the control and propulsion systems feature backup mechanisms, and in the event of a critical emergency, a parachute will automatically deploy to safeguard the pilot. Powering the Skyrider X6 is a 10.5 kWh battery pack that supports fast DC charging, similar to electric vehicles, allowing for a full charge in just one hour.

In terms of costs, Kuickwheel estimates that operating the trike in flight mode incurs expenses of approximately 3 Chinese yuan (nearly 11,000 VND) per kilometer, with annual maintenance fees ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 Chinese yuan (approximately 73 million to 110 million VND). The time savings offered by the Skyrider X6 are significant; for example, a 90-minute commute in Shanghai by car can be reduced to just 15 minutes with this flying trike.

However, the Skyrider X6 faces considerable challenges. The biggest hurdle is the lack of full legalization of civil low-altitude airspace regulations below 200 meters in China. Additionally, pilots require a license to operate lightweight sports aircraft, with associated training costs of around 50,000 Chinese yuan (approximately 180 million VND).

In the market, the Skyrider X6’s main competitor is the XPeng AeroHT flying car, priced at 1.2 million Chinese yuan (over 4.3 billion VND), which places it in a higher segment. Despite the challenges ahead, the introduction of the Skyrider X6 is a powerful testament to the approaching future of urban transportation.
