Individuals and households engaged in business activities need to verify and update their tax registration information before July 1st.
The Area Tax Bureau I (managing Hanoi and Hoa Binh) recommends that households, business households, self-employed individuals, and other individuals proactively verify and update their tax registration information to ensure consistency with the National Population Database.
This is an important step to help tax authorities standardize data and transition to using personal identification codes as tax codes, preventing errors or disruptions in the process of fulfilling tax obligations from July 1st onwards.
Regarding the information to be verified, taxpayers should cross-check their personal information (full name, date of birth, identity card number, etc.) with the data in the tax system and the National Population Database. If there are any discrepancies, updates should be made promptly.
There are three ways to update tax registration information:
The first method, which is encouraged by the tax authorities, involves electronic submission.

Update tax registration information on the eTax Mobile app.
Using the eTax Mobile app, go to the “Change Tax Registration Information” section and follow the instructions. If you receive a notification stating that your taxpayer information is not found in the National Population Database, please contact the police authorities to update your identification information.
On the National Public Service Portal (dichvucong.gov.vn), taxpayers can search for the procedure “Change Tax Registration Information.” On the Tax Industry Electronic Information Portal (thuedientu.gdt.gov.vn), users should select “Individuals,” log in, and then update their information.

Taxpayers can log in to the Tax Department’s Electronic Information Portal to change their information.
The second method involves authorizing the income-paying agency to handle the procedure for changing tax registration information. The dossier should include: a power of attorney (if not previously submitted), a copy of the ID card or documents related to the change of information (if any). The income-paying agency will compile and submit the dossier to the directly managing tax authority for information update.
The third method is applicable for individuals who are not employed by an income-paying unit. They can submit the dossier directly to the tax management team at their place of permanent or temporary residence. The dossier should include: Tax Registration Declaration or Declaration of Information Adjustment, copy of ID card or passport, and documents for dependents (if any).
According to the Law on Tax Administration No. 38/2019/QH14 and Circular No. 86 of the Ministry of Finance, personal identification codes will officially replace tax codes for households, business households, self-employed individuals, and other individuals.
The subjects of application include individuals with taxable personal income; individuals who are dependents according to personal income tax laws; representatives of households, business households, and self-employed individuals; and organizations, households, and other individuals with budgetary obligations.
The Power of Personal Identification Numbers: Unlocking a Secure and Efficient Future
As of July 1st, the Personal Identification Number will replace the Tax Code. Should there be any discrepancies in tax registration information, or if an individual has two tax codes, it is imperative to contact the managing tax authority or the Local Tax Department of residence immediately.
