On the afternoon of June 16, the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a conference to promote the Taiwanese tourism market. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Thi, affirmed that Thanh Hoa is a province rich in tourism potential, boasting a diverse natural ecosystem and a diverse and unique cultural heritage system.
INTRODUCING POTENTIALS AND STRENGTHENING BUSINESS CONNECTIONS
In recent years, the province has consistently ranked among the country’s leaders in attracting tourists. In 2023, Thanh Hoa welcomed nearly 12.5 million visitors, ranking fourth in the country, and in 2024, it welcomed over 15.3 million visitors, ranking fifth. However, international arrivals to Thanh Hoa remain modest, accounting for only about 4.2 to 4.7% of total annual arrivals.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee stated that Thanh Hoa is committed to creating favorable conditions for Taiwanese tourism businesses to access the market, conduct product surveys, and explore cooperation and investment opportunities in high-quality services. The province hopes to continue receiving connections from diplomatic, trade, tourism associations, and business communities on both sides.
The province also requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related units to promptly develop specific action plans and maintain close contact with Taiwanese businesses to expand the international tourist market.
At the seminar, the province introduced its key tourism products, including beach tourism, community-based eco-tourism, and cultural tourism. Local businesses presented representative tours connecting destinations such as Sam Son Beach Urban Area, Ben En National Park, Pu Luong Community-based Eco-Tourism Area, Lam Kinh Special National Relic, and The World Cultural Heritage of Thanh Hoa Citadel.

Many opinions from Taiwanese businesses expressed their impression of Thanh Hoa’s natural beauty, cultural depth, and diverse tourism products. Some businesses are interested in developing tourism packages that combine heritage exploration, local cultural experiences, and luxury resorts. The development direction includes green tourism and experiential tourism, in line with consumption trends in Taiwan.

According to business assessments, with its favorable geographical location, relatively synchronous transportation system, and diverse tourism resources, Thanh Hoa can become an attractive destination for Taiwanese tourists in the coming time. During the conference, tourism enterprises of the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation.
LOCAL SURVEY, TOWARDS BUILDING SUITABLE TOURS
Prior to the conference, in the afternoon of June 14, the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Cinema Promotion Center organized a famtrip delegation from Taiwan to survey the Thanh Hoa Museum and experience the Thanh Hoa City tour. At the museum, the delegation was introduced to the exhibition system, which showcases the historical process from the prehistoric era to the present. They showed particular interest in the Dong Son Culture exhibition space and national treasures such as the Nua Mountain short sword, Cam Thuy bronze vat, and Cam Giang bronze drum.

From June 15 to 17, the Taiwanese famtrip delegation continued to survey several destinations in the province, including Thanh Hoa Citadel (Vinh Loc), Cam Luong Fish Spring (Cam Thuy), Pu Luong Community-based Eco-Tourism Area (Ba Thuoc), Lam Kinh Special National Relic (Tho Xuan), and FLC Sam Son Beach Resort.

During the survey, the delegation explored the destinations, evaluated the service quality, and connected with Thanh Hoa tourism businesses to develop suitable tour packages for the international market, especially Taiwanese tourists.
