In the early morning of June 18, residents of Ward 8, Hong Ha discovered a large number of health supplement boxes dumped and piled up at the garbage collection point. Many products still had their original packaging and labels, but they had all expired. Some residents stated that since the night before, they had seen a couple living nearby pushing a cart loaded with these boxes to the dumping site.

Thousands of health supplement boxes were discarded.

Immediately upon receiving this information, the Quang Ninh Police coordinated with the Department of Health, the Market Management Bureau, and other functional units to inspect, collect, and load all the goods into 13 garbage trucks for classification, counting, and verification.

Through rapid verification, the authorities identified the owner of the goods as Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu (40 years old, residing in Group 4, Ward 8, Hong Ha Ward, Ha Long City). Mr. Hieu admitted that these products were expired health supplements with no value, so he decided to dispose of them by dumping them at the garbage collection point.

The batch included various brands such as Sunnest Bird’s Nest, Biotonic 3B, Sam Ngoc Linh COMBAT, ZOZO Immune, etc., mainly products manufactured by domestic enterprises. The total quantity exceeded 5,000 boxes, bottles, and jars.

Authorities sorting through the discarded products.

According to the representative of the Quang Ninh Department of Health, the arbitrary disposal of expired health supplements without following proper procedures, especially in a residential garbage collection area, may violate regulations on waste treatment, especially if the products are classified as hazardous waste. Specialized agencies are currently analyzing and assessing the level of hazard to propose appropriate handling measures in accordance with regulations.

The case is still under investigation. The authorities affirmed that they would strictly handle any violations of the law related to the management, transportation, and disposal of waste.
