During the ceremony, the leaders of Thanh Hoa province commended and awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in journalism during the 2015–2024 period. They also presented the Tran Mai Ninh Journalism Award, marking an important milestone in the award’s 28-year history.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh, member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, extended his best wishes on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front to all journalists in the province. He affirmed that journalism has always been a pioneering force, accompanying the country’s revolutionary and developmental journey, playing the role of a “faithful scribe of the times.”

Currently, Thanh Hoa province is home to four media organizations: Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station, Van Nghe Xu Thanh Magazine, Hong Duc University’s Journal of Science, and the Journal of Science of the University of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. There are also 63 representative offices and resident reporters from central and local media organizations, with a team of over 500 journalists.
Therefore, Secretary Nguyen Doan Anh emphasized that in the context of Thanh Hoa’s breakthrough development towards becoming a northern growth pole by 2030 and a model province by 2045, journalism must continue to play a pioneering role in all aspects of social life. He expects journalism to be a “trusted friend,” an “information shield,” and a “magnet for wisdom,” contributing to social consensus and fueling the province’s development aspirations.

With their creative labor, Thanh Hoa’s reporters and journalists have won numerous prestigious national awards, including the National Journalism Award, the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, the National Television Festival Award, and the National Radio Festival Award. Simultaneously, provincial awards such as the Tran Mai Ninh Award and the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award of Thanh Hoa have continuously improved their quality, affirming the position of Thanh journalism in the hearts of readers nationwide.
Among these, the Tran Mai Ninh Journalism Award, organized annually by the Provincial Journalists Association, aims to discover and honor high-quality works that authentically reflect the local political, economic, cultural, and social life. It also serves as a great source of encouragement for journalists, contributing to enhancing the quality and combativeness of journalism in this new era.
The Tran Mai Ninh Journalism Award 2024 ceremony was a highlight among the events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism. The award honored 46 outstanding journalistic works, including 5 A awards, 10 B awards, 15 C awards, and 16 encouragement awards.

Among the winners, VnEconomy Magazine was honored with one A award and one encouragement award. The A award was given to a series of five articles titled “Looking Back at 30 Years of FDI Attraction in Thanh Hoa Province” by journalist Truong Xuan Thien, Head of VnEconomy’s North Central Region Office. The series provided a comprehensive and in-depth look at foreign direct investment in Thanh Hoa over the past three decades, offering practical policy suggestions for the province’s new development phase.

Additionally, the encouragement award was presented to journalist Nguyen Thuahn for a series of three articles titled “Thanh Hoa Seeks Answers to Land Clearance Equation.” These works reflected the author’s dedication to practical issues, highlighting the challenges and pressures in land clearance, which directly impact the progress of major projects in the province. The articles offered diverse approaches and proposed solutions to untangle this complex issue.
The New Age of Journalism: “Streamlined Power” for the Digital Evolution
The Vietnamese media landscape is facing an imperative to transform and adapt to the digital age. This entails a comprehensive restructuring, merging of operations, and innovation in their models. Streamlining does not equate to a reduction in influence; instead, it presents an opportunity for the press to reinforce its guiding role and simultaneously foster a robust and sustainable media economy.
