Lalamove, the renowned logistics platform, is making a leap into electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing with a new brand called DuoLa Auto. The company’s first EV offering, aptly named “DuoLa Bafang,” is a purpose-built electric truck designed to meet the specific demands of the transportation industry, emphasizing enhanced cargo capacity and profitability for drivers.

The DuoLa Bafang electric truck showcases a functional, boxy design with a distinctive front grille and headlight configuration.

The DuoLa Bafang stands out with its functional, boxy design. Its front end features a large grille and vertically stacked rectangular headlights, forming a distinctive “H” shape that may allude to the first letter of Lalamove’s Chinese name. The black front bumper contributes to a modern and robust appearance, housing a sleek air intake design.

With dimensions of 5095mm in length, 1870mm in width, and 1990mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3300mm, the DuoLa Bafang offers a spacious cargo area measuring 3085mm x 1705mm x 1485mm. This results in a generous volume of 7.8 cubic meters, nearly a full cubic meter more than standard medium-sized trucks. Accommodating up to three occupants in the cabin, the rear features a set of double doors that open to a 270-degree angle, facilitating easy loading and unloading of cargo.

The DuoLa Bafang electric truck boasts a spacious cargo area, providing ample room for transporting goods.

Under the hood, the DuoLa Bafang is equipped with a potent 94 kW electric motor, coupled with battery options from renowned suppliers CATL (43.53 kWh), FinDreams (43.061 kWh), and EVE Energy (41.86 kWh). With a maximum range of 305 kilometers, it is well-suited for short-haul urban deliveries.

The DuoLa Bafang’s battery options come from reputable suppliers, ensuring reliable performance and range.

To navigate the current restrictions on new EV manufacturing licenses in China, Lalamove has adopted an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) model. The DuoLa Bafang is produced in collaboration with Changan Kaicene, a subsidiary of Changan Automobile. MIIT filings reveal that Changan Kaicene has registered three electric truck models that bear an identical resemblance to the DuoLa Bafang, indicating that while Changan Kaicene handles production, Lalamove likely leads the design and technology front, as evidenced by their recruitment of automotive engineering positions.

Lalamove’s strategic partnership with Changan Kaicene allows them to leverage each other’s strengths in design and production.

This strategic move positions Lalamove to capitalize on the booming new energy commercial vehicle market. While established players like Foton Zhilan, Geely’s Farizon Xingxiang V, and Wuling Cargo already occupy this segment, Lalamove’s key advantage lies in its extensive platform ecosystem. With a large user base and rich operational experience, Lalamove is well-positioned to promote and sell the DuoLa Bafang effectively. The company’s 2024 data reveals that 40% of orders on its platform were fulfilled by new energy vehicles, accumulating a total of 7.4 billion kilometers. Additionally, Lalamove has established an impressive charging network, spanning 338 cities with 940,000 charging stations.

Furthermore, Lalamove’s deep insights into driver demands, derived from millions of monthly orders and 1.68 million active drivers, have enabled them to design a vehicle tailored to the transportation industry. Potential incentives such as membership discounts and reduced commissions could further attract drivers to the DuoLa Bafang.
