Rumors are swirling that the upcoming Trump Mobile T1 may not be made in the US as claimed, but rather a rebranded Chinese phone with minor design changes. The Verge, along with other sources, has speculated that the upcoming device, priced at $499, is likely a white-label product manufactured in China and marketed under the Trump brand.

Trump Mobile T1: Made in China with a new name?

According to the Trump Organization, the Trump Mobile T1 will be released this year, boasting “Made in the USA” status, with assembly in Alabama, California, and Florida. However, the tech world is skeptical due to the near impossibility of establishing a wholly domestic mobile device supply chain in today’s market.

The Verge highlights the example of Purism, a company that endeavored to use American-made components for their Liberty Phone, resulting in a $2,000 price tag without premium features like an OLED screen or high refresh rate. In contrast, the Trump T1 promises a 6.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 5,000mAh battery at a quarter of the price, raising further doubts.

The Liberty Phone, made entirely in the USA, retails for $2,000 but offers modest hardware.

As a result, it is highly likely that the Trump T1 is a white-label device—a product manufactured by original design manufacturers (ODMs) in China and then rebranded for sale under a different name. This practice is common in the smartphone industry, especially in the mid-range and budget segments.

Here are four Chinese phones that bear a striking resemblance to the Trump T1:

1. DOOGEE Note 58

The DOOGEE Note 58: A look-alike with impressive specs on paper.

The DOOGEE Note 58 mimics the iPhone’s design with its large display and triple-camera setup. It features a 6.8-inch screen, Android 15 OS, and a massive 6250mAh battery, outdoing the Trump T1’s claimed 5000mAh capacity. Its specs seem too good for a phone purportedly made in the US at such a low cost, adding weight to the theory that it’s a rebranded Chinese device.

2. Ulefone Note 18 Ultra

The Ulefone Note 18 Ultra: Similar size and specs to the Trump T1.

The Ulefone Note 18 Ultra shares a similar size and specs with the Trump T1, featuring a 6.78-inch display, matching RAM and storage, and a wide-angle camera. However, its 90Hz refresh rate falls short of the promised 120Hz on the Trump T1.

3. Revvl 7 / Revvl 7 Pro (by Wingtech)

Wingtech’s Revvl 7 and 7 Pro: Potential candidates for the Trump T1’s ODM.

Wingtech, one of China’s largest ODMs, has produced phones for US carriers like T-Mobile. The Revvl 7 and 7 Pro feature large displays, modern designs, and mid-range specs, leading some experts to believe that the Trump T1 could be a customized version of this line.

4. BLU G84 or Bold K20

The BLU G84: A budget-friendly option with a similar design aesthetic.

BLU, known for importing and rebranding Chinese phones, offers the G84 with a 6.8-inch display, a headphone jack, and a low price point. Its gold color option aligns with the Trump brand, but the 90Hz screen falls short of the T1’s specs.

It appears that the Trump Mobile T1, priced at $499, will be yet another rebranded Chinese smartphone, possibly assembled or packaged in the US to give it a domestic feel. If true, it joins a long list of white-label devices in the American market.

While details remain scarce, tech analysts find this case intriguing, especially given the political branding coupled with the ODM model in the mobile industry.
