CÃ Mau’s Ho Thi Ky Commune: A Model for Sustainable Economic Development
On June 20th, a leader of the People’s Committee of Thoi Binh District in Ca Mau province shared that Ho Thi Ky is the only commune in the province that will not be merged with another administrative unit.

The sustainable economic models implemented in Ho Thi Ky Commune have consistently improved and elevated the local residents’ living standards over the years.
“The commune remains independent as its area and population meet the stipulated requirements. However, Ho Thi Ky will undergo reorganization to adapt to new functions and tasks without the district level of administration,” they added.
Ho Thi Ky covers an area of 93.6 square kilometers and is home to 27,283 people. Over the years, the local residents’ living standards have continually improved due to the successful implementation of sustainable economic models, including shrimp farming, rice cultivation, and trade-service activities.
According to the National Assembly Standing Committee’s resolution on the administrative reorganization of Ca Mau province’s communal-level units in 2025, the province will have 64 communal-level administrative units after the merger, comprising 55 communes and 9 wards. Among these, 54 communes and 9 wards will be newly formed, while Ho Thi Ky remains the only commune untouched by the merger.
