The Ministry of Construction has approved a special selection procedure for investors in the construction and operation of Aircraft Maintenance Services Projects No. 3 and No. 4 at the Long Thanh International Airport Project (Long Thanh Airport).

Long Thanh Airport Project construction is underway and nearing completion.
The project site covers an area of approximately 8.4 hectares, with a preliminary total investment of VND 1,543 billion.
The scope of the project includes constructing facilities capable of simultaneously accommodating a minimum of two Code E aircraft and four Code C aircraft for maintenance; building an administration office; installing equipment and auxiliary systems; and developing synchronous technical infrastructure to support production and business activities.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is entrusted with inviting bids, as well as preparing, evaluating, and approving the Request for Proposal (RFP) documents. This ensures that the project’s specific requirements and conditions are met, and that the selected investor possesses the necessary capabilities, experience, and implementation strategies to guarantee the success of the investment plan, land use efficiency, and overall development of Long Thanh Airport. The Authority is also responsible for organizing the investor selection process according to the approved plan and fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Minister of Construction.
Meanwhile, Aircraft Maintenance Services Project No. 2 will be connected and operated in conjunction with Aircraft Maintenance Services Project No. 1. With a total investment of approximately VND 645 billion and a project site spanning 3.9 hectares, this project is designed to simultaneously accommodate a minimum of two Code E aircraft and four Code C aircraft for maintenance. It will also involve the construction of an administration office, installation of equipment and auxiliary systems, and development of synchronous technical infrastructure to support production and business activities.
Both aircraft maintenance projects are scheduled for construction and completion between 2025 and 2026, with operations commencing from the date of completion until December 31, 2050.
According to the investment roadmap for Phase 1, Long Thanh Airport will house four aircraft maintenance hangars: Hangar 1, Hangar 2, Hangar 3, and Hangar 4.
In December 2024, the investor who won the bid for Aircraft Maintenance Services Project No. 1 was Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO). The investor for Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Commercial Ground Support Services Project No. 2 is a joint venture between Saigon Ground Services JSC and Hanoi Ground Services JSC.
In January 2025, the former Ministry of Transport assigned the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to organize the selection of investors for the two remaining aircraft maintenance projects.
During his inspection of the Long Thanh International Airport Project in late March, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh instructed that Vietnam Airlines be assigned Hangar 1 and Hangar 2, while Vietjet Air be assigned Hangar 3 and Hangar 4. He emphasized that there should be no corruption or favoritism in this process.
