The People’s Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has issued a notification regarding the planning and investment proposal for the Ho Tram-Long Thanh International Airport urban expressway, as per Decision No. 1680/QD-UBND dated June 12, 2025.

The urban expressway will commence at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 4 and DT991 (Phu My City) and conclude at the junction with DT994 coastal road (Xuyen Moc district). The expressway is designed as an urban highway with 4-6 lanes and a speed limit ranging from 100 to 120 km/h.

Xuyen Moc is the tourism hub of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, boasting a range of large-scale projects and well-developed infrastructure.

The investment proposal suggests completing major intersections with National Highways 56 and 55, as well as provincial roads such as TL765, TL997, TL328, and TL994. This will ensure seamless inter-regional connectivity, especially between Ho Tram and Long Thanh International Airport, a strategic transportation hub in southern Vietnam.

Approximately 365 hectares of land is expected to be required for the project. The People’s Committee intends to implement the project through a public-private partnership (PPP). The state budget will cover land clearance costs, while construction and infrastructure will be financed by businesses or other financial cooperation models.

The project has been approved by the Provincial People’s Council of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and included in the list of investment preparations. It is considered a significant transportation project that will boost tourism and economic development in the Southeast region, connecting Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s coastal area to the national and international infrastructure network.

Ho Tram is envisioned to become a magnet for international tourists in the near future.

According to the People’s Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, the transportation link between Long Thanh International Airport and Ho Tram is essential for completing the transportation infrastructure connecting Ba Ria-Vung Tau province with other provinces in the Southeast and Southwest regions. It will also connect development hubs and urban areas within the province.

Additionally, it will form an economic corridor for agriculture, industry, services, tourism, and seaports, fostering socio-economic development along the route. Furthermore, it will open up new urban development spaces, contributing to the effective implementation of the National Tourism Planning and maximizing the province’s economic and tourism potential.
