As part of the conference, Vinamilk (HOSE: VNM) took home awards in two major categories at the 2025 Global Dairy Innovation Awards: Best Yogurt and Best Packaging Design.
The Global Dairy Congress is a prestigious forum that brings together almost 200 industry leaders to share, discuss, and update on the latest developments and future trends in the dairy industry. This year’s theme, “Dairy for All Ages,” addressed the challenge of how dairy products can better meet nutritional needs and emphasized the natural nutritional value of milk for sustainable development.

In addition to the participation of countries considered the “cradle of the dairy industry,” such as the US, New Zealand, and Europe, in recent years, the conference has included large enterprises from Asia, including China, India, and Japan. Vietnam began participating in the conference in 2019, represented by Vinamilk, the only Southeast Asian company to present a dissertation.
Ms. Laurence Rycken, Director General of the International Dairy Federation (IDF), commented, “Currently, IDF has members from India, Japan, South Korea, and China. We are very keen to have additional members from Vietnam and other Asian countries join us. Vinamilk is a prominent regional company, and over the years of attending the Global Dairy Congress, I have witnessed Vietnam and Vinamilk‘s numerous success stories that offer valuable lessons for other markets.”
During the two-day conference, more than 20 valuable dissertations and four in-depth workshops were presented by leading corporations and units in the global dairy industry. The topics included natural, pure, and safe products; innovation as the future of the dairy industry; developing personalized nutrition dairy products; and sustainable development. With the scale and influence of these leading companies, their strategies not only shape their own future but also impact and outline the direction of the dairy industry.
Science Unlocking Nature’s Potential and Enhancing Nutritional Value
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri, Executive Director of Marketing at Vinamilk, began his presentation, titled “Born by Nature, Perfected by Science,” by emphasizing, “The future of the dairy industry lies in combining natural nutritional values with remarkable scientific advancements to unlock nature’s potential and enhance the nutritional value of milk. This philosophy guides all innovations at Vinamilk, aiming to continuously improve the value and quality of our dairy products to cater to diverse needs and all ages.”

Specifically, Vinamilk Green Farm fresh milk, produced with dual vacuum technology, was highlighted as a “revolutionary” step forward in the dairy industry. It took Vinamilk two years of research and experimentation to succeed in reducing 50% of free radicals in Vinamilk Green Farm fresh milk, preserving its freshness and natural grassy aftertaste. While this technology is common in the food industry, applying it to fresh milk is not straightforward and had no precedent in Vietnam.
As a result of this investment, Vinamilk Green Farm has won numerous international awards for its superior taste and quality, including Superior Taste and Monde Selection (Belgium). It has also met over 400 stringent criteria for quality and production conditions to achieve safety and purity recognized by the Clean Label Project (USA), setting a new standard for fresh milk in Vietnam.
With the growing trend of personalized health, consumers are not just looking for “fresh milk” but also demand precise measurements of nutritional content in each carton. This demand prompted Vinamilk to acquire advanced ultrafiltration technology from Sweden for their smart nutritional milk: high in protein, low in fat, rich in calcium, and lactose-free. This technology allows Vinamilk to precisely adjust the ratio of protein, fat, and lactose in fresh milk, resulting in a high-protein product without adding any external protein sources—a feat impossible with traditional technology.
“Breakthroughs in science and technology enable us to not only preserve the best of nature but also develop nutritional solutions that are as close to ‘natural’ as possible,” shared Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri about the milestone achievement of introducing “the first 6 HMOs in Vietnam.” In 2024, Vinamilk pioneered the successful addition of 6 types of HMOs, accounting for 58% of the HMOs found in breast milk, covering all three subgroups (Sialylated, Fucosylated, and Non-fucosylated), in their Optimum Gold and Optimum Colos products. This significant step forward in the Vietnamese market helps address the challenges faced by mothers who cannot exclusively breastfeed for various reasons.
Mr. Richard Hall, Chairman of the Global Dairy Congress, shared, “Milk is an excellent nutritional foundation, but it must continually innovate to meet human needs. We cannot consume hundreds of products simultaneously but must choose what is best for our bodies. Now more than ever, technology enables the dairy industry to thrive and endure. Over the past five years, the Vietnamese representative has brought valuable insights to the congress, and this year, they presented very creative products with impressive technology, quality, and taste. I believe that is precisely what we need to develop the dairy industry.”
In addition to fresh and formula milk, Vinamilk showcased several nutritional breakthroughs in other product lines, such as Vinamilk Green Farm pasteurized drinking yogurt, which integrates six strains of live and probiotic bacteria from Europe for the first time, and the soy milk production technology used in Vinamilk 9 Grain Soy Milk, which maximizes the natural nutritional content and taste from grains while reducing soybean by-products compared to traditional production methods.
Leading the Way with Innovation and Creativity in Line with Global Trends
During the Global Dairy Congress in the Netherlands, two Vinamilk products were recognized at the World Dairy Innovation Awards 2025. Specifically, Vinamilk Green Farm Greek-style high-protein yogurt won the Best Yogurt category, and Vinamilk Plant-based Yogurt received the Best Packaging Design award.
These accolades left a strong impression on the global dairy community regarding the level of investment in science and technology, as well as the innovation and creativity of the Vietnamese brand, which ranks sixth in the world. Although Vietnam is a relatively new player in the dairy industry, the pioneering spirit of leading companies like Vinamilk has solidified the country’s position and left its mark on the global stage with “made in Vietnam” products that boast world-class technology and standards.
