On June 25th, the Investigation Agency of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police announced the initiation of legal proceedings and the detention of Dinh Van Vuong (born 1995, residing in Tien Yen 2, Khanh Loi, Yen Khanh, Ninh Binh) for “infringement of industrial property rights” of the “Thai Nguyen Tea” brand.

According to authorities, since November 2024, Vuong has been designing and printing a large number of stickers bearing the collective trademark logo of “Thai Nguyen Tea,” along with the statements “Vuong Thai Nguyen’s Specialty Delicious Tea” and “Thai Nguyen Special Green Tea.” These were then sold on the market.

On the product packaging, Dinh Van Vuong listed “Facility 1: Dong Tien hamlet, La Bang commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province” and “Facility 2: Khanh Loi, Yen Khanh, Ninh Binh province.” However, upon inspection, authorities could not locate any production facilities associated with Vuong in Dong Tien hamlet, La Bang commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province.

During a raid on the packaging facility in Ninh Binh, authorities discovered over 9.2 tons of tea with the collective trademark “Thai Nguyen Tea.” An examination of Vuong’s computer revealed revenue of nearly VND 46 billion from November 2024 to the present.

According to the police, Dinh Van Vuong operated a large-scale factory spanning hundreds of square meters. At the time of the inspection, the factory contained numerous large sacks of tea sourced from various localities. Vuong hired individuals to package and label the tea with the collective trademark “Thai Nguyen Tea.” These packages were then sold online and through other distribution channels.
