According to the Economic Police Department of Quang Tri Province’s Public Security, authorities recently conducted a surprise inspection of four warehouses owned by Tran Dinh Vuong, the owner of Kim Anh Cosmetics and Hair Accessories Store, located at 120B National Highway 9, Ward 1, Dong Ha City.

During the inspection, authorities discovered and seized a total of 2.5 tons of cosmetics, equivalent to over 2,900 products from 43 different brands. The seized goods are estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dong, but no valid invoices or documents were presented to verify their origin and provenance.

Specifically, among the confiscated items, there were over 250 products of 23 types of cosmetics purported to be domestically produced, but they lacked clear manufacturer addresses and mandatory codes or barcodes. In addition, more than 2,600 products across 20 types of cosmetics with foreign labels were also found to be without proper documentation to prove their legitimate origin.

At the police station, Mr. Tran Dinh Vuong admitted that the entire batch of goods was procured from various sources and was smuggled without any legal invoices or documents.

The Economic Police of Quang Tri Provincial Police have sealed and temporarily confiscated all the goods for further investigation and handling in accordance with the law.

Earlier, at around 10:22 pm on June 24, an inter-sectoral working group comprising the Central Anti-Drug and Crime Task Force (under the Anti-Drug and Crime Department of the Vietnam Border Guard) and the Police Department for Corruption, Economic, Smuggling, and Environmental Crime Investigation of Quang Tri Provincial Police conducted a patrol on National Highway 9.

When they reached Km42+932 in Khe Ngai village, Dakrong township, Dakrong district, the task force spotted a suspicious car with license plate number 37H-022.71 traveling from Lao Bao to Dong Ha. Upon inspection, the authorities discovered numerous packages suspected to contain fireworks.

The detained suspect, Nguyen Dang Thang, and the seized fireworks.

The car was occupied by two individuals: Le Dinh Cuong (born 1985) and Nguyen Dang Thang (born 1981), both residing in Van Son township, Do Luong district, Nghe An province. The inspection revealed 239 boxes of fireworks.

At the functional agency, Nguyen Dang Thang confessed to being hired to transport the fireworks from Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province, to Nghe An province, for which he would receive payment.

The authorities have proceeded to seal and confiscate the fireworks and temporarily detain Nguyen Dang Thang for further investigation into the act of “Transporting Prohibited Goods.”
