Recently, Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Director of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee, presided over a conference to evaluate the results of the first six months and deploy tasks for the last six months of 2025 in the tourism sector. The conference was held as Thanh Hoa is pinning high hopes on tourism as an important economic growth driver for the province.

NEARLY 10.5 MILLION VISITORS, REVENUE UP OVER 30%

According to the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee’s report, in the first half of 2025, Thanh Hoa’s tourism sector served approximately 10.5 million visitors, up 7.3% compared to the same period in 2024. Tourism revenue was estimated at over VND 26,300 billion, a surge of 32.8%, reaching nearly 58% of the yearly plan. These are positive results, given that many localities are striving to recover and develop tourism after the fluctuations in the past period.

Conference Overview

Notably, there are currently 57 tourism development plans in Thanh Hoa province, 49 of which have been approved. The province is home to 76 tourism business investment projects with a total registered capital of about VND 152,000 billion, including 18 completed projects and 58 under implementation.

Along with that, Thanh Hoa actively organized promotion and promotion activities, notably the tourism promotion conference “One journey, many experiences” with Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Ha Tinh – a side event of the Hanoi VITM Fair 2025; welcoming the Taiwanese famtrip delegation and organizing a conference to promote the Taiwanese tourist market to Thanh Hoa.

FOCUSING ON PRODUCT AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

According to the orientation, Thanh Hoa is promoting three main product lines: sea tourism; cultural, historical and spiritual tourism; and community-based eco-tourism. At the same time, localities and enterprises in the province have proactively renewed and diversified tourism products, thereby enhancing experiences and prolonging tourists’ length of stay.

One of the important pillars identified is infrastructure investment. In 2025, Thanh Hoa province is implementing 19 tourism infrastructure projects with a total investment of more than VND 1,222 billion. Up to now, the province has had 70 tourism infrastructure projects, of which 48 have been completed and 22 are under implementation.

The development of infrastructure, especially inter-regional transport routes, has been connecting tourist areas and scenic spots, expanding the province’s tourism space.

At the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thi commended the proactive spirit of the departments, sectors, and localities in performing their tasks. He also requested continued efforts in site clearance, improving the market structure, and enhancing the efficiency of state management in tourism.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the standing agency of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee, was assigned to coordinate with branches and localities to research and synchronously deploy solutions to improve service quality and sustainable development. At the same time, it is necessary to continue reviewing and reorganizing the Steering Committee to meet the requirements in the new period.

In 2025, Thanh Hoa is expected to organize more than 150 cultural, sports, and tourism events, including 89 cultural events, 25 sports events, and 36 tourism events. This is one of the solutions to stimulate demand and attract domestic and foreign tourists, strengthen tourism links between Thanh Hoa and other provinces, cities, and international partners.

The targets set for 2025 are to serve 16 million visitors and achieve a revenue of VND 45,500 billion. To achieve this, Thanh Hoa province continues to prioritize public investment resources for key infrastructure, promote public-private partnerships, enhance competitiveness, and promote the image of Thanh Hoa as a tourist destination in Vietnam and the region.
