The acquisition of the aircraft marks a significant milestone in Vietravel Airlines’ restructuring and expansion plans since the T&T Group became its strategic shareholder. Owning the aircraft inaugurates a new phase of proactive, systematic, and sustainable development, with the goal of becoming a leading green, professional, modern, and sustainable airline in Southeast Asia.

Aircraft Ownership: Foundation for a New Phase of Growth

Vietravel Airlines’ new Airbus A321, with the registration number VN – A129, has a capacity of 228 seats and is expected to commence operations in early July 2025. This popular narrow-body aircraft is renowned for its high operational efficiency and fuel economy, making it suitable for both domestic trunk routes and short to medium-haul international flights.

In July, Vietravel Airlines will add two more Airbus A320 aircraft to its fleet, completing its plan to enhance its fleet with modern, flexible, and efficient aircraft. The airline will increase flight frequencies connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon, and international destinations in the region, catering to the rebounding tourism and business travel demands.

According to Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Chairman of Vietravel Airlines’ Board of Directors, the acquisition of the Airbus A321 not only signifies a crucial step towards realizing the strategy of developing a modern aircraft fleet but also underscores the airline’s financial strength and operational capabilities. It also demonstrates Vietravel Airlines’ strong determination to pursue sustainable development and establish a unique brand identity, earning the trust of customers and recognition in the market.

Mr. Do Vinh Quang, Chairman of Vietravel Airlines, speaks at the ceremony for the airline’s first owned aircraft.

“The ownership of the first Airbus A321 holds significant importance not only for Vietravel Airlines but also symbolizes the aspirations of Vietnam’s private aviation industry, which is gradually asserting its role in fostering economic growth,” shared Mr. Do Vinh Quang.

Speaking at the aircraft reception event, Mr. Ho Minh Tan, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Aviation Authority, affirmed that the reception of the first Airbus A321 owned by the airline materializes T&T Group’s commitment to the growth of Vietravel Airlines. The addition of owned aircraft to the fleet, in alignment with the other aircraft in operation, will grant Vietravel Airlines greater autonomy in its operations while providing immense momentum for the airline’s subsequent development strategies.

“I believe that with the support and partnership of the strategic shareholder, T&T Group, Vietravel Airlines will achieve impressive growth, delivering tangible values and benefits to customers and contributing significantly to the advancement of Vietnam’s aviation industry,” emphasized Mr. Ho Minh Tan.

Vietravel Airlines is also actively negotiating with leading aircraft manufacturers and airlines worldwide to establish strategic and comprehensive collaborations in the aviation sector. These partnerships aim to enhance the airline’s technological capabilities, operational standards, and international influence.

Notably, to materialize its growth objectives, Vietravel Airlines has approved a plan to increase its charter capital to VND 2,600 billion. This strategic decision aims to bolster the airline’s financial capacity to meet the demands of a significant fleet expansion and operational scale-up in the upcoming period. It also involves investing in modern technical infrastructure, advanced technology systems, and, most importantly, high-quality human resources to ensure sustainable and efficient development. Additionally, the capital increase aims to maintain robust solvency, sustain healthy financial indicators, and continually enhance the airline’s reputation with strategic partners, suppliers, and domestic and international credit institutions.

Integration into the T&T Group Ecosystem

Moving forward, Vietravel Airlines will continue to leverage its strength in aviation tourism, a domain that has established the airline’s unique position in the market. Notably, with the strategic partnership of the T&T Group, Vietravel Airlines is embarking on a new phase of development characterized by systematic and long-term planning, with a vision to become one of the leading green, professional, modern, and sustainable airlines in the region.

As part of this vision, Vietravel Airlines will continue to strengthen its passenger transportation services while expanding into air cargo operations to meet the surging demands of the region’s supply chain and logistics sector. T&T Group and Vietravel Airlines are planning to venture into ancillary aviation services such as ground handling, warehousing, loading and unloading, technical, and aviation industry services—a domain with high added value. These endeavors aim to enhance the airline’s competitiveness and contribute to the completion of the aviation ecosystem that the T&T Group is cultivating.

Vietravel Airlines will be directly linked to the Quang Tri Airport, a large-scale transport infrastructure project in which the T&T Group is an investor. Additionally, the airline will be integrated as a pivotal component within the chain of infrastructure, logistics, and aviation projects that the T&T Group has undertaken or is currently developing. Alongside Quang Ninh Port, Quang Tri Airport, Vietnam SuperPort in Vinh Phuc, Nam Phuc Tho Industrial Cluster, and the Aviation-Logistics-Services-Trade-Urban Airport Complex in Quang Tri, Vietravel Airlines will be a vital piece in forging a smart, comprehensive, and synchronized logistics ecosystem. This ecosystem will propel multimodal transportation and catalyze breakthroughs in Vietnam’s logistics sector, particularly as the country’s aviation and logistics industries enter a phase of robust growth.

In the context of Vietnam’s aviation market, which still faces challenges regarding planning, infrastructure, and developmental capacity, the achievements of a young private airline like Vietravel Airlines are remarkable. The airline’s ownership of its aircraft, capital increase, and integration into an international-standard logistics and aviation value chain underscore the robust development of Vietnam’s private sector. Moreover, they affirm the pivotal role, autonomy, strategic capabilities, and willingness to invest substantially in cutting-edge technology and modern operational models within the private economic sector, aligning with the spirit of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on national scientific, technological, and innovative development and digital transformation.

Concurrently, Vietravel Airlines’ progress epitomizes the pioneering role, creative capabilities, and global aspirations of the private sector in spearheading industries, as outlined in Resolution 68 of the Politburo regarding private economic development. This resolution emphasizes the goal of developing the private economy into the most critical driving force of the national economy, proactively engaging in global value chains, and competing internationally.

“With the milestone of owning our first aircraft, Vietravel Airlines is steadily realizing the strategy of ‘flying far, flying long, and flying sustainably,’ ushering in a new chapter for the airline and contributing to the advancement of Vietnam’s aviation industry in the nation’s new era of prosperity,” affirmed Mr. Do Vinh Quang.
