Appointing Mr. Nguyen Van Nen as the New Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee

On June 30th, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee organized a ceremony to announce the National Assembly’s and local authorities’ resolutions and decisions regarding the merger of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels, the cessation of operations of administrative units at the district level, and the establishment of Party organizations, with designated Party cells, People’s Councils, People’s Committees, and Fatherland Front Committees for the city, districts, wards, and special districts.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Duong, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Head of the Central Organization Commission, announced the Politburo’s decision on appointing the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, the Secretary, and the Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020–2025 term.

Accordingly, the Politburo appointed the Ho Chi Minh City Party Executive Committee (new) for the 2020–2025 term, comprising 107 members. Of these, 36 were members of the Executive Committee of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Party Committee (old), 32 were members of the Executive Committee of the Binh Duong Party Committee (old), and 39 were members of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Executive Committee (old).

The Politburo also appointed the Ho Chi Minh City Party Standing Committee (new) for the 2020–2025 term with 27 members. This includes 11 members from the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial Party Standing Committee, seven from the Binh Duong Provincial Party Standing Committee, and nine from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Standing Committee.

In the same decision, the Politburo appointed Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (old), as the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (new) for the 2020–2025 term.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (old), was appointed as the Standing Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (new) for the 2020–2025 term.

Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee (old), was appointed as Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee (new) for the 2021–2026 term.

Mr. Vo Van Minh, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Binh Duong People’s Committee (old), was appointed as Vice Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council (new) for the 2021–2026 term.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (old), was appointed as Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City (new).
