Hundreds Queue for Hours to Secure Spots in Affordable Housing Project in Da Nang

On the morning of June 30, hundreds of people were seen queuing in an orderly manner at the premises of the investment enterprise of the low-income housing project in An Trung 2 Residential Area, Son Tra District, Da Nang City. According to many citizens, they had been queuing since the afternoon of June 29, enduring an overnight wait to ensure they did not miss the opportunity to apply for this coveted social housing project in a prime location. At one point, the situation became chaotic, and the investor had to temporarily halt the distribution of queue numbers to restore order.

By 9 am, the queue had grown longer, stretching all the way to Ong Ich Khiem Street. Traffic police and local authorities were present to manage traffic flow and maintain security and order.

Due to the large number of applicants, the investor had to issue queue numbers to those with complete application dossiers. These numbers included the applicant’s name and the date of their appointment for submission.

Ms. T.T.D.M, a resident of Thanh Khe District, shared that she had been queuing since noon on June 29 and spent the night waiting to submit her application, even though the Da Nang Department of Construction had announced that the project would start receiving applications on June 30.

“We spent the whole night queuing here. At one point, it got so chaotic that the investor had to disperse the crowd and restart the queue, which is why my queue number is almost 400. I’m worried that those who submitted their applications earlier will be prioritized, rendering my overnight wait meaningless,” Ms. M. expressed her concern.

It was only after 9 am that Ms. N.T.T.P, a resident of Son Tra District, joined the queue, finding herself near the end. Looking at the long line, Ms. P. shook her head in dismay, unsure when her turn would come. “This queue is just to get a number for an appointment to submit the application. I wonder if we’ll have to go through the same crowded process on the submission day,” she said.

The social housing project in An Trung 2 Residential Area is located in a prime area in Son Tra District, between the Dragon Bridge and Tran Thi Ly Bridge. It is considered the most sought-after social housing project in Da Nang, as evident by the rush of people to the investor’s office to inquire about procedures and application forms. As a result, the investor had to switch from direct guidance to QR code-based form distribution.

The project comprises three high-rise apartment buildings with a total of 957 units. Block A has 18 floors, Block B has 15 floors, and Block C has 12 floors. In this phase, 633 apartments are being released to the market, including 288 units in Block A and 345 units in Block B.

The selling price of the apartments was announced to be over VND 16.2 million/m2, excluding taxes, fees, and other related charges as stipulated by law. The period for receiving applications for social housing, as announced by the Department of Construction, is from June 30 to July 22.
