Thai authorities have dealt a significant blow to a large-scale online trafficking network specializing in counterfeit cosmetics, health supplements, and hazardous goods, seizing an estimated 46.2 billion baht worth of goods (over 37 trillion VND in converted value).
In a joint operation, the Consumer Protection Police Division (PCPD) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided six warehouses in Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, and Bangkok, uncovering an extensive network of unvetted goods, largely imported from China.

Major General Pattanasak Bubphasuwan, Deputy Commander of the PCPD, stated, “This operation stemmed from our continuous monitoring of online platforms. We detected numerous advertisements for substandard and potentially harmful products and took swift action.”
The raids, conducted from February 18-28, exposed a sophisticated distribution network operating through multiple online stores. Notably, one of the warehouses handled up to 2,000 orders per day.

A total of 107 product lines, amounting to 476,965 individual items, were seized. These included cosmetics, toxic chemicals, medical devices, and herbal products. The confiscated goods have been handed over to the PCPD for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Investigating authorities confirmed that all seized goods originated from China, with many products lacking Thai labels or featuring only machine translations. The PCPD has pledged to expand the investigation to apprehend the masterminds and importers involved.

Pharmacist Lertchai Lertwut, FDA Deputy Secretary-General, warned consumers: “When purchasing health and beauty products online, extreme caution is necessary. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Verify the seller’s information and ensure proper licensing and labeling compliance.”
