Vietnam Unveils New Provincial LeadershipOn June 30th, Vietnam entered a new chapter in its state administrative reform with the simultaneous announcement of new administrative boundaries and the appointment of provincial leaders across the country. This followed the National Assembly’s landmark Resolution 202/2025, which reduced the number of provincial-level administrative units from 63 to 34, including 28 provinces and 6 centrally-run cities. The list of 34 newly appointed provincial party committee secretaries offers interesting insights. Over 50% of the secretaries are in their 70s, and the majority are not natives of the provinces they now lead. |
