Hundreds Queue for the City’s Most Anticipated Social Housing Project

On the morning of June 30th, hundreds of people lined up at the office of the investment enterprise in charge of the low-income housing project in the An Trung 2 Residential Area (Son Tra District, Da Nang City). Many shared that they had been queuing since the afternoon of June 29th, enduring the long wait to ensure they didn’t miss out on the opportunity to apply for these coveted social housing units in a prime location. At one point, the crowd became unmanageable, and the investor had to temporarily halt the distribution of queue numbers to restore order.

By 9 am, the line had grown even longer, stretching all the way to Ong Ich Khiem Street. Traffic police and local authorities were present to manage traffic flow and maintain order.

Due to the overwhelming number of applicants, the investor began issuing queue numbers to those with complete applications, ensuring that each person’s name was recorded, along with an appointment date for submitting their documents.

Ms. T.T.D.M, a resident of Thanh Khe District, shared that she had been waiting in line since noon on June 29th, despite the official announcement from the Da Nang Department of Construction stating that applications would be accepted starting June 30th.

“We spent the entire night here, and at one point, it got so chaotic that the investor had to disperse the crowd and restart the queue, which pushed my number close to 400. I’m worried that those who submitted their applications earlier will be prioritized, rendering my efforts of queuing for an entire day meaningless,” Ms. M. expressed her frustration.

It was only after 9 am that Ms. N.T.T.P, a resident of Son Tra District, joined the queue, finding herself near the end of the line. Looking at the snaking queue, Ms. P. shook her head in dismay, unsure when her turn would come. “This queue is just to draw lots and get an appointment date for submitting the application; I wonder if it will be this crowded on the actual submission date,” she remarked.

The social housing project in the An Trung 2 Residential Area boasts a prime location in Son Tra District, situated between the Dragon Bridge and Tran Thi Ly Bridge. It is considered the hottest social housing project in Da Nang, with residents flocking to the investor’s office to inquire about procedures and applications. As a result, the investor had to switch from in-person guidance to distributing application forms via QR codes.

The project comprises three high-rise apartment buildings, offering a total of 957 units. Block A has 18 floors, Block B has 15 floors, and Block C has 12 floors. In this phase, 633 apartments are being released to the market, including 288 units in Block A and 345 units in Block B.

The selling price of the apartments was announced at over VND 16.2 million per square meter, excluding taxes, fees, and other related charges as stipulated by law. The application period for social housing, as per the announcement by the Department of Construction, is from June 30th to July 22nd.
