On the morning of June 30th, a ceremony was held in 23 provinces and cities that were formed through mergers and consolidations in accordance with the directives of the Central Government and resolutions of the National Assembly. During this event, resolutions and decisions regarding the merger of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels, as well as the appointment of key leadership positions, were announced.
The following is a list of the 23 provincial and municipal Party Committee Secretaries following the mergers and consolidations:
Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, a member of the Politburo, was appointed as the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Mr. Do Thanh Binh, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
Mr. Le Tien Chau, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the An Giang Province Party Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Van Gau, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Bac Ninh Province Party Committee.

Mr. Le Quoc Phong, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Dong Thap Province Party Committee.
Mr. Ho Quoc Dung, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Gia Lai Province Party Committee.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, a member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Hung Yen Province Party Committee.

Mr. Trinh Viet Hung, an alternate member of the Party Central Committee, was appointed as the Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Province Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai was appointed as the Secretary of the Ca Mau Province Party Committee.

The Political Bureau Proposes Central Committee Consider Disciplinary Action for Le Thanh Hai
The Politburo has proposed that the Party Central Committee consider disciplinary action against Mr. Le Thanh Hai, former Politburo member, former Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, and former Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. In a separate decision, the Politburo has decided to issue a warning to the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2010-2015 term.
