Today, resolutions and decisions on mergers and personnel appointments at the provincial and communal levels will be announced.

Speaking to Tien Phong, National Assembly Deputy Bui Hoai Son remarked that this moment marks a significant milestone in the process of reforming the state administrative apparatus.
“This is not just an organizational reform but the beginning of an era of administrative reform, dedicated to serving the people. Every decision will be closer to the lives of the people, and every policy will carry the pulse of reality,” said National Assembly Deputy Bui Hoai Son.
Earlier, on June 12, at the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly, a resolution on the rearrangement of provincial-level administrative units in 2025 was passed.
As of the effective date of the resolution (June 12), there are 34 provincial-level administrative units in the country, including 28 provinces and 6 cities. Of these, 19 provinces and 4 cities were formed after the rearrangement, while 11 provinces and cities remained unchanged.
The resolution also urged competent authorities to promptly undertake the necessary preparatory work to ensure that local governments in the provinces and cities formed after the rearrangement would officially operate from July 1, 2025.
On June 5, the National Assembly Standing Committee also approved the merger plan for communal-level administrative units nationwide. As a result, the number of communal-level units decreased from 10,035 to 3,321.
According to Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra, the rearrangement and streamlining of agencies, organizations, and units after the merger ensured unity and was linked to the rearrangement of Party organizations, the Fatherland Front, and socio-political organizations at the same level.
