Regarding the capsizing of the Green Bay 58 tourist boat in the Ti Top island area of Quang Ninh province on July 19, which resulted in 39 fatalities and 10 survivors, the Department of Management and Supervision has released updated information on the compensation amounts.

The total expected compensation is VND 23.4 billion, including VND 3.3 billion in non-life insurance payouts.
Specifically, VND 1.2 billion will come from the boat owner’s civil liability insurance for passengers and crew accident insurance, paid by Baolong Insurance Corporation.
VND 1.1 billion will be provided by Bao Viet Insurance Corporation in collaboration with Post Insurance Corporation, Military Insurance Corporation, and Sai Gon – Ha Noi Insurance Corporation for passenger accident insurance.
AAA Insurance Corporation will provide VND 1 billion in credit insurance.
In terms of life insurance, the total expected payout is VND 20.1 billion. Manulife is expected to pay the highest amount of VND 7.62 billion, followed by Generali with VND 6.25 billion, AIA with over VND 4 billion, Bao Viet with VND 1.2 billion, Dai-ichi Life with VND 720 million, Prudential with VND 230 million, and Shinhan Life with VND 80 million.
Regarding the passenger bus crash in Ha Tinh province on July 25, which resulted in 10 fatalities, the Department of Management and Supervision announced that the expected compensation and insurance payouts amount to over VND 1.6 billion, with non-life insurance accounting for approximately VND 805 million.

The bus, with license plate number 43F-007.76, was insured for compulsory civil liability insurance for motor vehicle owners at Global Insurance Corporation (GIC).
The company has provided advance compensation to the families of the 10 deceased victims (VND 45 million per person) and the 15 injured victims (VND 15 million per person). In addition, GIC offered additional support of VND 10 million per deceased person and VND 2 million per injured person, bringing the total compensation and support from GIC to VND 805 million.
In the field of life insurance, the expected payout is VND 880 million, with Prudential paying VND 780 million and Sun Life paying VND 100 million.
Earlier, in the early morning of July 25, authorities received reports of a serious traffic accident on National Highway 1A, at Km 571+800, in Song Tri commune, Ha Tinh province. The incident resulted in 10 fatalities and 15 injuries.
According to the initial investigation results, the driver, Le Ngoc Thanh (born in 1989, from Thanh Hoa province), was a hired driver for Tan Kim Chi Transport Company, based in Da Nang city. At the time of the accident, Le Ngoc Thanh was driving the sleeper bus with license plate number 43F-007.76 northbound on National Highway 1A. When he reached Km 571+800, he lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed, colliding with milestones and a high-voltage power pole, which caused the bus to overturn.
