Bringing Serious Cases to a Close

In a petition to the National Assembly, voters in Phu Tho province called for enhanced inspection, investigation, and definitive resolution of serious corruption, wastefulness, and negative cases that have captured public attention.

The voters also urged the authorities to resolutely prevent the inclusion of degenerate, corrupt, wasteful, or negative officials in the new term of office and to avoid situations where newly appointed officials are subsequently disciplined.

Responding to this, Inspector General Do Hong Phong reaffirmed the strong determination to relentlessly fight corruption, wastefulness, and negativity, with no forbidden areas or exceptions.

He emphasized that personnel work for the Party Congress at all levels is of great importance and has been defined by the Party as the “key to success,” playing a decisive role in realizing the Party’s policies and guiding the country into a new era.

The Inspector General cited Directive 45 by the Politburo on organizing Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress, which clearly stated the need to resolutely prevent degenerate, corrupt, wasteful, or negative officials from being included in the new term and avoiding situations where newly appointed officials are subsequently disciplined.

Moving forward, to build on the achievements and overcome limitations, difficulties, and bottlenecks, the Government will continue to direct functional agencies to strengthen corruption prevention and the fight against wastefulness and negativity.

Enhancing Mechanisms to Prevent Corruption and Negativity

The Inspector General also outlined tasks and solutions, including building a contingent of officials in the spirit of the 7th Central Resolution (12th term) on personnel work, especially for the strategic level, ensuring that they possess moral qualities, capacity, and prestige to meet their tasks.

Additionally, there will be increased leadership and direction, along with strict implementation of the Law on Corruption Prevention and Control, the Law on Inspection, and their guiding documents. This includes accelerating the progress of the project to build a national database on asset and income control.

According to Mr. Phong, there will also be a focus on perfecting the institution of social economic management and anti-corruption and negativity, perfecting the mechanism of corruption and negativity prevention, and perfecting the regulations on building a transparent, honest, and serving public service.

Along with this, there will be a strict handling and effective prevention of petty corruption and harassment that affects the people and businesses.

Intensified inspections will be carried out in areas prone to corruption and negativity, in pressing and outstanding issues in society, in specialized fields, and in closed operational activities.
