On February 8th (December 29th), the major and minor roads around Tan Son Nhat Airport were all clear, in stark contrast to the situation a few days earlier.
According to reports, from morning until afternoon of the same day, the roads leading to Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City) were sparsely populated with people and vehicles.
On the roads Nguyen Van Troi, Hoang Van Thu, Phan Dinh Giot, Cong Hoa, Tran Quoc Hoan, Truong Son…, traffic was flowing smoothly.
Among the people and vehicles, many people were carrying their belongings, heading out of Ho Chi Minh City to their hometowns to celebrate Tet.
Mr. Ben Milner (a tourist from England) expressed his surprise at the clear and somewhat deserted scene around the airport area. According to Mr. Ben Milner, this is his first time visiting Vietnam.
Mr. Ben Milner was also surprised to learn that this is the period when the Vietnamese celebrate Tet Nguyen Dan. Therefore, most people living and working in Ho Chi Minh City have returned to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families and loved ones.
Mr. Dimitry Caloin’s family (tourists from the Republic of Madagascar) also expressed their excitement when their trip to Vietnam coincided with the traditional Tet of the Vietnamese people. Mr. Dimitry Caloin said that although the roads were clear and traffic was convenient, the family was worried that most restaurants have closed.
Mr. Dimitry Caloin and his wife plan to stay in Ho Chi Minh City for 2-3 days and then travel to some surrounding provinces and cities to experience Tet.
According to reports, at many critical positions on the roads around Tan Son Nhat Airport, traffic police forces were present to direct traffic flow and ensure the most convenient travel for the people.
