Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment: Export – one of the 3 pillars of economic growth

Currently, we are focusing on maximizing 3 major pillars for economic development including: public investment, domestic consumption, and export.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment

Among them, the Government is making great efforts, striving, and determined in disbursement of public investment, especially key infrastructure projects. When transportation is smooth, other activities will meet expectations. Along with that, there have been many solutions to stimulate domestic demand, increase consumer demand, and exports have also shown positive signs.

However, to maintain the export growth rate, it is necessary to focus on key markets, combined with market expansion and diversification. At the same time, resolutely remove difficulties for domestic corporations and enterprises, in order to help them implement activities in the best possible way and be confident when exporting to international markets.

In addition, enhancing trade and investment promotion with expanding cooperating countries, upgrading strategic partners, from strategy to comprehensive strategy… This is also a solution for us to expand export markets. With these solutions, I believe that the export pillar will grow as expected.

National Assembly Delegate Nguyen Lam Thanh – Thai Nguyen delegation: Expectations from agricultural products and processing industries

In 2024, Vietnam’s exports are forecasted to excel along with the recovery of the world economy. Among them, agricultural exports have become a bright spot with many expectations thanks to breakthrough results in 2023.

National Assembly Delegate Nguyen Lam Thanh – Thai Nguyen delegation

Along with that, the industry also has certain bright spots, especially related to processing industries, semiconductor industry… which are global industries that are of great interest. and we have set development directions for these industries.

In the upcoming period, developing the electronics industry, processing, and manufacturing industries are still essential, especially when the world and Vietnam are transitioning to build a digital society, digital transformation, and digital economy. However, the processing and manufacturing industry is a sector that requires high technology and technical skills, so appropriate investments are necessary, especially policies with incentives, with a focus to further promote fundamental industries such as the developing mechanical industry.

Besides, developing circular economy, green economy is also an inevitable trend of countries, forcing domestic industries to make appropriate changes in line with general trends, to meet the technical barriers of countries in order to maintain orders and expand markets.

National Assembly Delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga – Hai Duong delegation: Ministry of Industry and Trade makes great efforts, is sensitive in management and administration

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is a multi-sector economic management agency, with many areas directly impacting production activities, business activities, and daily life of society. Therefore, it is essential that the management and administration activities of the Ministry of Industry and Trade are highly regarded and the people are very interested in it.

National Assembly Delegate Nguyen Thi Viet Nga – Hai Duong delegation

Personally, I appreciate that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has made great efforts, been sensitive in management and administration, understanding well the practical issues arising from reality, providing accurate data with both difficulties and advantages. Thereby, contribute together with other ministries and branches to promptly advise the Government on issuing solutions to remove difficulties and promote economic development, as set out by the National Assembly’s objectives.

In reality, in the context of the world’s total demand decreasing, complex geopolitical developments and many unprecedented difficulties like in 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has made positive contributions together with the political system in stabilizing the country’s macro economy, creating momentum for 2024.

In Resolution No. 103/2023/QH15 on the 2024 Socio-Economic Development Plan, the task is stated: Focusing on restoring and developing industries, especially processing and manufacturing industries, semiconductor production, to become a driving force for economic growth. At the same time, setting targets, striving for the proportion of processing and manufacturing industries in GDP to reach about 24.1 – 24.2%.

In order to promote the development of the industrial sector, I believe it is necessary to pay attention to training and attracting high-quality human resources, especially in the field of information technology where we are still lacking compared to many countries in the world. According to statistics, the human resources in the field of information technology only accounts for about 1% of the total labor force. At the same time, focus on increasing labor productivity, in which it is necessary to promote the application of science and technology in production and business.
