Hyundai-Kia’s e-GMP electric platform is currently bringing great success to the group’s models. However, from 2025 onwards, Hyundai-Kia will start using a new platform for their flagship models first.
According to leaked production plans, from 2026 onwards, a successor to the Stinger called GT1 will be assembled in South Korea. The new model, codenamed Kia EV8, will be a large electric sedan that prioritizes dynamic and sporty features.

The platform for the Kia EV8 will be the new-generation pure electric platform that Hyundai revealed in mid-2023. This platform is currently known as the IMA, while the Korean group uses the name eM.
This platform will first be applied to the luxury Genesis GV90 (2025) before Hyundai-Kia starts using it on their flagship models from 2026, including the Kia EV8.
The powertrain of the Kia EV8 will feature a dual-motor setup with a maximum output of 603 horsepower. This slightly exceeds the current output of the Kia EV6 GT (577 horsepower). The car will also have cheaper versions (215 horsepower) and mid-range versions (429 horsepower).

The EV8 will come with a 113.2 kWh battery pack (the current highest capacity used by the company is 99.8 kWh). This “heart” is expected to provide a range of 700 to 800 km per charge.
The Kia EV8 will go into production from 2026 at the Hwaseong 3 plant in South Korea.
