Operating a multi-billion dollar tech company is not for everyone, it requires extreme dedication and responsibility. That’s why CEOs like that can pocket millions of dollars each year. But have you ever wondered what devices these CEOs use? It’s easy to guess that the CEO of Apple only uses an iPhone. So what about the CEO of Google, the head of the operating system used by dozens of companies?
In a recent interview, Google CEO Sundar Pichai revealed that he simultaneously uses more than… 20 different smartphones. The reason behind this habit is quite understandable. Currently, Android has over 3 billion active users and in 2015, Google announced that nearly 1,300 brands had produced over 24,000 unique Android devices.
Since Android runs on most best-selling phones, Sundar Pichai wants to ensure that Google’s services and apps run smoothly on every device. He may also want to identify changes to be made to future versions of Android.
The Google CEO did not mention the names of the 20 phones he uses at the same time. However, devices from well-known brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, etc., are the most likely choices. It is also not surprising to see Pichai using an iPhone to keep an eye on his company’s biggest competitor.
Sundar Pichai has shared that he is always one of the first users of new devices launched by Google. During an interview with YouTuber Arun Maini in mid-2023, when the Pixel Fold was just released, Pichai revealed that he had been using the Pixel Fold for a while.
However, Pixel is not the only phone he uses. “Right now I’m using the Pixel 7 Pro, but I also try out everything – from Samsung Galaxy, Pixel Fold to iPhone,” he answered when asked about his main phone. With the Pixel Fold, Pichai especially likes to test its multitasking capabilities and run multiple apps at the same time. He also said that he uses different SIMs for each phone.
When asked if he uses foldable phones regularly, Pichai confirmed that he has tried and experienced the Fold for a long time, but for daily use, he still prefers a lighter main phone. “If I’m on the go, busy, and just need to quickly check emails, I’d choose a lighter phone,” he explained.
But the tech habits of the Google CEO do not only revolve around a collection of phones. When asked about his children’s screen time, Sundar Pichai suggested that setting personal limits is more important than strict rules. This shows that he believes in responsible technology use, especially as a parent in today’s digital world.
