According to the evaluation of the Hanoi Department of Transport, during the peak period of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, from February 7th (the 28th of the last lunar month) to February 13th (the 4th day of Tet), the public passenger transport system in Hanoi operated smoothly, according to plan, ensuring safety, and meeting the travel needs of the people.
Specifically, in the field of public passenger transport by bus, Hanoi buses carried 73,382 trips, serving about 5 million passengers. The Cat Linh – Ha Dong railway line operated 1,115 train trips, serving 86,357 passengers. Urban railway train trips were operated safely.
In order to meet the travel needs of passengers during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the Hanoi Department of Transport arranged and maintained 7 inspection teams to monitor the operation and coordinate with public passenger transport management units according to the plan, ensuring safe and on-time operation. At the same time, customer service representatives were assigned to provide timely support and information consultation for passengers in need.
During the peak period of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, Hanoi Metro Joint Stock Company (Hanoi Metro) planned to operate trains throughout the Giap Thin Lunar New Year to serve the travel and recreational needs of the people.
As of the end of 2023 (after 26 months of operation), the Cat Linh – Ha Dong railway had carried nearly 20 million passengers. In the early days of operation, on weekends, the train carried less than 30,000 passengers per day. Currently, this number is around 22,000 – 24,000 passengers per day, and on weekdays, it ranges from 35,000 to 36,000 passengers per day.
