The industrial production index increased in 60 localities and decreased in 3 localities nationwide.

The service sector maintained a relatively strong growth momentum; the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in January 2024 is estimated at VND 524.1 thousand billion, an increase of 8.1% compared to the same period; the supply of goods is abundant, and there is no shortage or unreasonable price hike. The localities with high growth rates are: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Hanoi, Binh Dinh…

Regarding the supply of goods for Tet, Mr. Trung said that at supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience stores, there was a wide variety of merchandise combined with some discount and promotion programs deep into the days close to Tet, so the prices of goods remained stable compared to normal days and only slightly increased compared to last Tet due to the increase in input costs.

In traditional markets, the supply of goods, especially fresh food, has also been strengthened, meeting adequate demand. Specifically, fresh food and fruits have a tendency to increase slightly compared to normal days, but there is no shortage or unreasonable price hike.
