Speaking to the press on the afternoon of February 20, Ms. Truong Kieu Anh – Deputy Head of the Office of the Hanoi Department of Transportation – said that before the Lunar New Year of the Tan Suu period, on average, every day, 2 locations for receiving and changing driver’s licenses (GPLX) of the Department at 258 Vo Chi Cong, Tay Ho District and 16 Cao Ba Quat, Ba Dinh District, received about 350 – 400 applications. However, in the days after the Lunar New Year, the number of people coming to process the procedures has increased significantly.

Statistics show that on February 20, the one-stop division of the Department at 258 Vo Chi Cong received and processed 320 applications; at 16 Cao Ba Quat, they received and processed over 350 applications. In total, Hanoi Department of Transportation received over 700 applications in one day. “This has caused overload for the two one-stop divisions and made people have to queue and wait for the procedures to be resolved,” Ms. Kieu Anh said.

According to Ms. Kieu Anh, this is an unnecessary situation because currently, apart from the 2 points of the Department at Vo Chi Cong and Cao Ba Quat, people can come to issue and exchange GPLX at 4 one-stop divisions in 5 districts and towns, including Dong Anh, My Duc, Phu Xuyen, Ung Hoa, and Son Tay town.

According to the forecast of the one-stop administrative procedure settlement division of the Hanoi Department of Transportation, in the coming days, the number of people coming to process procedures will still be high and may last until the end of the first lunar month. Therefore, in addition to coordinating communication activities to inform people to go to the 5 locations in the above-mentioned districts and towns.

In addition, the Department of Transportation has also arranged more machinery, equipment, and increased staff to receive applications from the public. In case the number of applications exceeds the serving capacity in a day, the Department officials will instruct citizens to take a queue number and make an appointment for the next day.
