The information was reported by Vo Nguyen Phong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction, at the conference to implement the “Investment in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income people, industrial park workers in the period 2021-2030” in 2024, organized by the Ministry of Construction.
According to Mr. Vo Nguyen Phong, Hanoi has proactively reserved over 400 hectares for social housing development. The city has also proactively arranged 5 concentrated social housing areas with a total area of 270 hectares, over 1 million square meters of social housing floor area, equivalent to about 15,000 apartments. So far, 4 out of 5 projects have been approved for investment decisions, laying the foundation for selecting project investors.
In addition, the city is directing departments, agencies, district People’s Committees, and towns to urgently review 20%, 25% of land funds in commercial housing projects, urban areas to develop new social housing projects.
Implementing the Housing Development Program of the city and the Government’s pilot project for 1 million apartments, phase 2021-2023, Hanoi has completed 5 projects with a total of 5,200 units. In the phase 2024-2025, it will continue to implement and complete 17 projects with over 15,000 units.
In the phase 2026-2030, based on the review of the land fund, Hanoi will focus on urging enterprises to implement; review and remove difficulties related to investment procedures, land recovery, land allocation, shorten the time to settle administrative procedures, and allocate flexible capital with investment projects that the city assigns to specialized departments, districts, and towns to make investment decisions.
Thus, in the period 2024-2030, the city aims to have approximately 58 projects implemented, complete 3.4 million square meters, with about 56,700 apartments, meeting the requirements set by the project for the city.
