Cirium, a leading aviation data analytics company based in London, UK, and a strategic partner of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has ranked Vietnam Airlines among the top 5 airlines worldwide for on-time arrival performance in April 2024.
The ranking is based on Cirium’s On-Time Arrival Performance measurement, which considers a flight to be on time if it arrives and reaches the gate within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time.
According to Cirium’s report, Vietnam Airlines achieved an impressive on-time arrival performance of 81.85%, based on data from 11,108 flights. This achievement is noteworthy considering the challenges faced during the peak holiday travel season in late April and early May, which saw a surge in passenger numbers and infrastructure pressures at airports. Additionally, Vietnam Airlines had to navigate reductions in their operating fleet and a lack of backup aircraft due to global engine recall checks.
Vietnam Airlines’ Deputy Director, Dang Anh Tuan, attributed their success to a range of operational solutions, including optimized flight schedules, proactive engagement with authorities for early and efficient slot allocation, efficient utilization of pilots, cabin crew, and aircraft, as well as adaptive management during adverse weather conditions and air traffic congestion. He further highlighted the positive impact of their “Service Culture Enhancement” program, launched in late 2021, which has fostered a strong focus on human factors in service delivery, including maintaining high on-time performance, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.
This recognition from Cirium adds to Vietnam Airlines’ previous accolade as one of the top 10 most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region for 2023.
