On August 8, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man inspected the progress of Component 3 of the Long Thanh International Airport Project, Phase 1.
At the project site in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province, Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the National Assembly delegation examined the progress of Package 4.6, which includes the runway, taxiway, and apron, and Package 5.10, the airport’s passenger terminal.
Reporting to the National Assembly delegation, Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), stated that Dong Nai Province has completed the site clearance process ahead of schedule. As a result, Mr. Thanh affirmed that ACV is committed to ensuring that commercial flights will commence operations by September 2, 2026.
The ACV Chairman also proposed that, to ensure uninterrupted operations at the Long Thanh International Airport during Phase 1, ACV has collaborated with consulting units to assist the Government in reporting to the National Assembly at the 8th session of the 15th National Assembly. This includes the construction of a second runway during Phase 1 and the preparation of the foundation for Terminal T3. The head of ACV requested that the National Assembly direct the Ministry of Transport to promptly assign relevant units to implement the project for expanding the expressway connecting Long Thanh International Airport with Ho Chi Minh City.
Concluding the working session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized the significance of the Long Thanh International Airport Project, highlighting its crucial impact on the economic development of the key southern economic region and the entire country. He shared the Party and State’s vision of establishing the airport as a modern aviation hub in the region, providing employment for 200,000 workers inside and outside the airport area. The Chairman commended the Party Committee and people of Dong Nai Province for their resilience and successful land retrieval efforts, ensuring the timely handover of the project site to the project owner and contractor. He also praised the Ministry of Transport, the Capital Management Committee, investors, contractors, and the dedicated engineers and workers for their unwavering dedication to ensuring the project’s progress.
Chairman Man instructed Dong Nai Province to continue reviewing compensation and resettlement, land retrieval, and investing in infrastructure for resettlement areas to ensure favorable living conditions for the affected residents. He also emphasized the importance of providing vocational training and creating stable livelihoods for the local population.
Addressing the investors and contractors, the National Assembly Chairman requested regular updates on the airport project’s progress to facilitate the synchronization and linkage of other projects and works in the region.
He emphasized the urgency of taking immediate action on essential tasks, ensuring a holistic approach with the airport’s connectivity in mind. Additionally, he stressed the importance of rigorous supervision and quality control to prevent waste, corruption, and delays, ensuring the project’s timely completion.
Earlier that day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the 17th National Conference of Collaborators of the People’s Representative Newspaper in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province.
