Foxconn, Apple’s primary manufacturing partner, has recruited approximately 50,000 new workers at its Zhengzhou, China factory to meet the production demands of the iPhone 16. This news was reported by China Business News on August 8.

The Zhengzhou factory, often referred to as “iPhone City,” accounts for approximately 80% of global iPhone production. Foxconn’s seasonal recruitment drive is an annual event, starting in July and extending through December, to meet production and consumption demands during the year-end holiday season.

To attract workers, Foxconn has increased the basic salary and incentives for new employees, offering up to CNY 7,500 (approximately VND 25 million), a significant increase from last month’s incentive of CNY 6,000 (around VND 20 million).

Apple anticipates high demand for the iPhone 16, particularly due to its new AI features. As only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models offered these features, many users are expected to upgrade their devices this year.

Another factor contributing to the increased demand is the recovery of the Chinese market, with iPhone sales rebounding significantly after a period of decline.

According to Bloomberg, Apple has requested that suppliers increase production by 10% this year, targeting the manufacture of 90 million phones.
