Subaru Crosstrek: Pricing and Release Date
According to a Subaru dealership sales consultant in Hanoi, the highly-anticipated Crosstrek is expected to launch in Vietnam as soon as October, with an estimated price tag of 1.1 billion VND. If this information is accurate, the Subaru Crosstrek will be competitively priced against the Skoda Karoq, which currently tops out at 1.089 billion VND.
This update comes as a surprise to many, as earlier reports from May 2023 suggested a much lower price range of 700-800 million VND. The reason for this discrepancy could be attributed to the closure of Subaru’s Thai factory, resulting in the Crosstrek being imported from Japan instead. This change in sourcing means the vehicle will not benefit from ASEAN policy advantages, leading to a higher selling price.
On August 11, the official Facebook page of Subaru Asia, the importer of Subaru vehicles in Vietnam, teased an image of a wheel, along with the caption “Coming Soon!”. This subtle hint was enough for enthusiasts to confirm that the highly-anticipated model is indeed the Subaru Crosstrek.
What’s the Subaru Crosstrek All About?
Previously known as the Subaru XV in Vietnam, the Crosstrek is set to make its comeback after a 6-year hiatus. With a projected price of 1.5 billion VND, the vehicle will compete in the popular crossover segment against the likes of the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Mazda CX-3 and CX-30, Toyota Corolla Cross, and the Mitsubishi Xforce, to name a few.
In terms of dimensions, the Crosstrek measures 4,480 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. This makes it slightly longer than the Corolla Cross (4,460 mm) and significantly longer than the Skoda Karoq (4,382 mm).
The Subaru Crosstrek boasts impressive features, including LED projector headlights, a headlight washer system, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels. The front and rear bumpers, as well as the wheel arches, feature a striking black finish.
The interior of the Crosstrek shares similarities with the Outback, featuring a 11.6-inch vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The climate control settings are also integrated into this screen, rather than having a separate control cluster. The instrument cluster behind the steering wheel combines analog gauges with a small digital display. Other standard features include push-button start, electronic parking brake, and more.
Under the hood, the Indonesian-spec Subaru Crosstrek is powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces 154 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and an all-wheel-drive system. In other markets, the Crosstrek is also offered with a hybrid powertrain, combining a 145-horsepower 2.0-liter engine with a 13-horsepower electric motor.
In terms of safety, the Vietnam-spec Subaru Crosstrek is expected to be equipped with the EyeSight driver-assist technology suite, which includes features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning, among others.
