On August 19, the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Dong Nai province provided an update on the job market and hiring trends for the remaining six months of the year.

According to the forecast, nearly 1,400 businesses in the province will be looking to fill approximately 40,000 job openings by the end of the year. More than 40% of these vacancies are for unskilled labor. Companies are ramping up their hiring efforts to meet the anticipated surge in production during the upcoming holiday season.

The industries with the highest demand for workers include manufacturing, textiles and garment production, leather goods, industrial equipment, and wood products, among others.

However, the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Dong Nai acknowledged that businesses are facing significant challenges in finding workers, despite utilizing various recruitment channels.

During a job fair organized by the Dong Nai Center for Employment Services on August 12, 20 businesses participated with a collective need for nearly 1,400 employees. However, only around 400 job seekers attended the event to explore opportunities and participate in interviews.

According to the center, the job fair attracted a wide range of companies from manufacturing industries such as garment, leather goods, overseas labor export, life insurance, financial services, telecommunications, and security services. While the majority of vacancies were for unskilled labor (over 81%), the number of applications received accounted for just over 16% of the total demand. Meanwhile, the number of unemployed individuals registering for unemployment benefits in Dong Nai remains high.

To meet the labor demands of businesses for the upcoming holiday season and Lunar New Year 2025, the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs of Dong Nai has instructed the provincial Center for Employment Services to intensify their efforts. This includes organizing more job fairs to bridge the gap between labor supply and demand, disseminating information about hiring trends, and actively connecting unemployed individuals with potential employers to facilitate their re-entry into the job market.
