On August 19, the Ha Tinh Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Control team, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Tran Phu Ward (Ha Tinh city, Ha Tinh province), received a rare Indochinese box turtle.

The turtle was discovered by Vo Thi Phuong Chinh, a teacher at Tran Phu Kindergarten, in the school’s fairy tale garden.

After making the discovery, Ms. Chinh promptly contacted the local authorities and the forest rangers to hand over the turtle so that it could be released back into its natural habitat.

The turtle was found on school premises.

The turtle has since been handed over to the competent authorities and transferred to the Vu Quang National Park for professional care.

The park’s specialists are monitoring the turtle’s health and providing necessary care before releasing it back into the wild, contributing to conservation efforts.

The Indochinese box turtle, with the scientific name Indotestudo elongata, is listed as a Group IIB endangered, precious, and rare forest and wildlife species.
