The Ever-Changing Landscape of Ho Chi Minh City’s Ring Road 3: A Year of Transformation

After more than a year of construction, contractors are now mobilizing equipment, manpower, and resources to accelerate the progress of the Ring Road 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vanh Dai 3 project, spanning over 47km, passes through Thu Duc City and Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, and Cu Chi districts in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ho Chi Minh City Vanh Dai 3 project (Component 1) consists of 14 construction packages, including 10 main construction packages and 4 operation and exploitation service packages.

VTC News reporters observed that at Package XL1 (Thu Duc City), dozens of workers, along with machinery, were working in 3 shifts, even during the holidays, to accelerate the project’s progress.

Package XL1, with a contract value of over VND 2,213 billion, is being carried out by a joint venture between the North Central South Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company, Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Co., Ltd., Bridge 75 Construction Joint Stock Company, Dinh An Group Joint Stock Company, and Ha Do 1 Joint Stock Company.

Package XL1 has a contract duration of 1,018 days, commencing in January 2024. The contractor is currently focusing on expediting the construction of substructure components along the route and simultaneously working on soil treatment. The construction progress has reached 9% of the contract value.

In this area, the contractor has started constructing the Vanh Dai 3 interchange with the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway.

Upon completion, this area will be connected to the road leading to Nhon Trach Bridge towards Dong Nai and then linked to the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway, forming an inter-provincial transportation axis.

Regarding Package XL3 for the construction of the elevated road (in Thu Duc City), many pillars have been completed, and the contractors are preparing for beam launching in the upcoming period. On the construction site, the contractors are accelerating the construction of bridges and tunnels along the route and treating soft soil by replacing it with tram piles, cement-reinforced soil piles, and wick drains.

Package LX3 is undertaken by Dinh An Group Joint Stock Company, Bridge 75 Construction Joint Stock Company, Thang Long Mechanical Construction Corporation, Thai Yen Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, and Phuc Thanh An Joint Stock Company.

The construction of Package XL3 commenced in July 2023, with a total investment of VND 2,068 billion and a contract duration of 1,018 days. Currently, the construction progress has reached 22% of the contract value.

Regarding the progress of the Vanh Dai 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Transport Project Management Unit stated that the investor, contractors, and supervisors are striving to maintain the project’s completion schedule.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the completion schedule for the Vanh Dai 3 project is as follows:

Complete certain items of Package 1 to ensure the synchronous operation and effective connection of Nhon Trach Bridge (Component 1A) with the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway by April 30, 2025.

Technically open the entire expressway route by the end of January 2026.

Officially open the entire expressway route on April 30, 2026.

Complete the entire project (including the parallel road) by June 30, 2026.
