The Cay Kho Bridge project, approved by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation in December 2015, boasts a total investment of over VND 500 billion from the city’s budget. Construction costs account for more than VND 306 billion, while compensation for site clearance amounts to over VND 114 billion, alongside other expenses.
This project entails constructing a new reinforced concrete bridge spanning nearly 500 meters across the Cay Kho canal. It comprises 11 spans, with a width of 12.5 meters, accommodating two lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for non-motorized transport. Additionally, the project includes the construction of nearly 300-meter-long approach roads on both sides of the bridge, a 12.5-meter-wide road, and a 540-meter-long communal road, along with an illumination system on the bridge.

While the project commenced construction in late 2016, challenges with land clearance caused delays, and it has now finally come to fruition. The bridge connects Nhon Duc – Phuoc Loc Road (Nguyen Binh Street) with Pham Hung Road (extended Chanh Hung Street), significantly improving transportation in the area.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nha Be District, Trieu Do Hong Phuoc, emphasized the significance of the Cay Kho Bridge as the longest bridge in the district. He highlighted its role as a pivotal infrastructure project, providing a much-needed boost to the region’s development. With the bridge in operation, locals can now travel a mere 500 meters instead of relying on ferry services or taking a 10-kilometer detour.
The project’s completion is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on major roads like Huynh Tan Phat and Nguyen Huu Tho. It will facilitate smoother travel between Nguyen Van Linh Street and Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park and strengthen the connectivity between Nha Be District and Binh Chanh District as well as District 7.
