The Lien Chieu Port construction project, located in Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city, encompasses a total area of 450 hectares and consists of two components.

Component A involves the development of shared infrastructure, with an investment of over VND 3,400 billion funded by the central government and the city budget. Component B, on the other hand, invites private investment, with a projected total investment of more than VND 48,300 billion.

According to the Da Nang Priority Infrastructure Projects Management Board (the project’s investor), the construction progress of the shared infrastructure component has reached 67% completion. This component, which broke ground in late 2022, is on track to meet its scheduled timeline.

So far, the construction of the dike and wave-breaking embankment has reached 66% completion. Specifically, the dredging of the ship channel and basin area has achieved 67% progress, while the construction of roads and drainage systems stands at 68%.

As observed by our reporters, despite the September 2nd holiday, numerous vehicles, machinery, and workers remained present and actively engaged at the Lien Chieu Port construction site.

A worker at the project site shared that due to the hot weather, they had to start their shift early in the morning. Despite the holiday, the workers remained dedicated to fulfilling their assigned tasks and ensuring the project’s progress.

On September 1st, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected and surveyed the Lien Chieu Port project. He commended the project’s swift progress, acknowledging that within just over a year of commencement, significant achievements have been made.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the “overcoming sun and rain” spirit demonstrated by the engineers and workers of the project’s contracting units, recognizing their dedication and resilience in the face of challenging weather conditions.

Despite the September 2 holiday, the workers and engineers approached their tasks with enthusiasm and dedication, ensuring that the project remains on schedule.

Alongside the Lien Chieu Port, the coastal road connecting to the port, with a total investment of VND 1,203 billion and a length of nearly 3 km, is also under rapid construction. Featuring bridges, overpasses, tunnels, and modern intersections, this road will play a crucial role in integrating the Lien Chieu Port into the national transportation system, including National Highway 1 and the North-South Expressway. This route will reduce cargo transportation time, offering strategic multimodal advantages and reinforcing the vision of developing Lien Chieu Port into a special seaport in the future.

The Lien Chieu Port is designed to accommodate 8 container berths for vessels ranging from 30,000 to 200,000 DWT, 6 general berths for vessels from 30,000 to 100,000 DWT, and a berth for SB vessels with a length of 1,230m. According to the Da Nang People’s Committee, the port is estimated to generate approximately VND 4,800 billion in revenue by 2030, VND 17,100 billion by 2040, and VND 25,800 billion by 2050. Additionally, maritime fees, port fees, and other charges are expected to bring in around VND 230 billion annually.
