Meat stall at Cho Thai, Thai Nguyen city
Nguyen Thi Thuy, a pork vendor at Cho Thai, shared: “Pork prices are slightly higher than usual, but not significantly. This is due to the challenges in sourcing from flooded areas such as Dong Hy, Quang Vinh, and Tuc Duyen. However, there hasn’t been a sudden spike in prices.”
Also at Cho Thai, Pham Thu Thuy’s beef stall is bustling with customers. She is busy serving both walk-in customers and those who have placed orders in advance. “Beef prices have increased marginally due to the challenges in transportation caused by the storm and floods,” said Thuy.
Green vegetables have increased in price due to limited supply after the floods.
Cao Thi Ninh, a vegetable vendor from Cho Tuc Duyen, has set up her stall on Ben Oanh Street in Thai Nguyen city due to the flooding at the original market location. Ninh sells bundles of morning glory for VND 13,000 to 15,000, explaining that these are homegrown vegetables, so the price remains unchanged from regular days. She added that other shops might have to sell at higher prices due to increased procurement costs, and many are unable to source vegetables as the growing areas in Thai Nguyen city and surrounding districts are all flooded.
Essential goods and food items remain available in supermarkets and grocery stores in Thai Nguyen city.
