Da Nang authorities have proposed a total of nine locations and one land reclamation area to establish a free trade zone, covering a variety of functions.

The first location is situated adjacent to Lien Chieu Seaport, spanning approximately 100 hectares. This area is intended for the development of logistics services.

The second location is in Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, also with an area of 100 hectares, and it is planned to host logistics services as well.

The third and fourth locations are in more rural areas, with the third in Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang District, covering 400 hectares, and the fourth in the expanded High-Tech Park area in Hoa Ninh Commune, Hoa Vang District, spanning 300 hectares. These two sites are intended for manufacturing and production activities.

The fifth location is at the foot of Ba Na Hills, with an area of 90 hectares. The sixth location is proposed for a hillside urban area in Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District. The seventh location is along both sides of Hoang Van Thai Street, covering about 53 hectares. These three locations are envisioned to host commercial and service activities.

The last two locations, one at Hoa Nhon Industrial Park with an area of approximately 200 hectares and the other west of Da Nang Airport with 80 hectares, are planned for logistics services.

Additionally, there is a proposed land reclamation project along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, stretching into Da Nang Bay, from Nguyen Sinh Sac Street to the boundary of the Da Phuoc International Urban Area, covering a total area of 420 hectares. This area is expected to be considered in subsequent phases.

Da Nang will include these locations in the proposal to establish a free trade zone in the draft project to be submitted to the Prime Minister. During the development of this project, the city will continue to review, supplement, and adjust the locations as necessary to ensure feasibility in implementation.

In late June, the National Assembly passed Resolution 136, consisting of four chapters and 18 articles, regulating the organization of urban administration and piloting a number of mechanisms and policies for the special development of Da Nang City.

This includes the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone associated with Lien Chieu Seaport, with functional areas as stipulated in the Prime Minister’s decision, including production, logistics, commercial and service areas, and other types of functional areas as prescribed by law. The Prime Minister will decide on the establishment, adjustment, and expansion of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone.
