Recently, SWE, a prominent local Vietnamese brand with over 1.1 million followers on social media, was accused of fabricating a donation receipt for VND 100 million. The accusation stemmed from suspicions that the transaction number shared by the brand on social media was inaccurate.
Specifically, a netizen compared the transaction number of SWE’s transfer made at 12:00 with that of singer Bao Thy’s transfer made at 10:14 on the same day. The netizen alleged that SWE falsified the receipt because despite transferring the funds later, their transaction number was lower than the singer’s. The original exposé post has since been deleted.
In response to the mixed reactions, SWE has spoken out and refuted the false rumors. Specifically, SWE asserted that the rumors of fabricated receipts are untrue and disclosed the bank statement showing the VND 100 million donation to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
SWE stated: “As a brand originating from Vietnam, we are proud of our Vietnamese heritage. We would like to emphasize that all the aforementioned information is completely inaccurate and stems from an unfortunate misunderstanding. We are ready to confront any individuals or entities involved in spreading these rumors.”
“We understand that misinformation can impact our company’s reputation and cause confusion, anger, and distress among our customers, partners, and the community. Therefore, we would like to be transparent and publicly disclose the details of our recent donation.”
SWE also emphasized that they have not engaged in any media stunts during this period. SWE is a fashion brand established in 2016 and has become a familiar name among young people, especially street style enthusiasts. Currently, the brand has a presence in four provinces and cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Bien Hoa, and Can Tho, with multiple branches.
Recently, many individuals have been criticized for “showcasing” or intentionally misleading others about their charitable donations. Notable examples include hot girl Louis Pham and Viet Anh Pi Po, who have faced a backlash from the public and have temporarily made their social media accounts private.
However, amidst the controversy, there are also trustworthy donors whose contributions have been verified, such as Quang Linh Vlogs and his team in Africa (donating VND 300 million), Ha Linh (donating VND 200 million), Hoa Minzy and her fan club (VND 400 million), and the Trà ng An tourist site boat rowers (VND 300 million).
Currently, the “storm” of bank statement scrutiny continues, and the public eagerly awaits further revelations of both exaggerated and sincere charitable donations.
