iShares ETF Fund Sells Remaining VND Holdings and Exits Vietnam During the Period of 09-16/09/2024

During the aforementioned period, the iShares ETF Fund offloaded its entire holdings of 161,747 VND shares, marking the final Vietnamese stock in its portfolio. With the only remaining Vietnamese asset being approximately 81 million VND in cash, the Fund can be considered to have officially exited the Vietnamese market. The total asset value as of 16/09 stood at over 219 million USD, a slight decrease compared to 09/09.
The iShares ETF Fund has been actively selling off Vietnamese stocks since 11/06/2024, following the announcement from asset management giant BlackRock that the ETF would cease trading and no longer accept creation or redemption orders after the market close on 31/03/2025. The notification also emphasized that the timeline could change.
Following the announcement of the fund’s closure, BlackRock surprised the market by hitting an impressive milestone: its assets under management in the second quarter reached a record high of 10.65 trillion USD. This achievement was bolstered by the strong performance of global stock markets and significant inflows into the company’s ETF offerings.
