According to the report, at 14:10 local time, the Quang Nam Border Guard Command received information that at 13:42, the An Binh Phat 68 cargo ship, en route from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai, had capsized and sunk at coordinates 15°43′N – 10833″E, approximately 4.5 nautical miles east of Binh Hai commune, Thang Binh district, Quang Nam Province. The eight crew members had evacuated onto a life raft and urgently requested rescue.

The An Binh Phat 68 was carrying 4,000 tons of stone powder. At the time of the incident, the area experienced strong winds of up to level 8, causing high waves and making it challenging for rescue teams from the Quang Nam Border Guard to approach the scene.

The Quang Nam Border Guard Command has instructed the coastal border guard stations to deploy forces to patrol and observe the coastline to promptly detect and assist the life raft of the distressed ship.

Additionally, they are coordinating and sharing information with the Coast Guard Region 2 to monitor the situation and provide necessary rescue support. As of 14:20, Coast Guard vessels CSB 2016 and CSB 601 from Region 2 have been dispatched to the accident site.
