Luong Hoai Nam, CEO of Bamboo Airways

The Tax Department’s reasoning for this decision is that Mr. Nam is the legal representative of Bamboo Airways, an enterprise currently under enforcement of administrative decisions on tax management due to outstanding tax obligations. The temporary exit ban will be in effect from September 11, 2024, until Bamboo Airways fulfills its tax duties to the state budget.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Nam served as the Head of Market Planning and Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Airlines‘s Heritage Magazine, CEO of Jetstar Pacific Airlines, CEO of Hai Au Aviation JSC, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Association, and Deputy General Director of Luong Dung Ngoi Sao Viet Aviation Company.

Luong Hoai Nam, born in 1963, brings over 30 years of experience and has held numerous senior positions in the aviation and tourism industries. He was appointed as CEO of Bamboo Airways in late October last year and has been instrumental in the restructuring of the struggling airline.

This period also marked Bamboo Airways’ aggressive cost-cutting measures, including the reduction of thousands of personnel, disbandment of many indirect departments, and optimization of work processes.

As a result, according to the management’s sharing at the 2023 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Bamboo Airways has overcome its most challenging phase.

Looking ahead, CEO Luong Hoai Nam shared that the company’s strategy will be to “do what is good for business results and carefully consider anything that might be disadvantageous. Essentially, we will not engage in activities that increase losses unless they serve a strategic purpose.”

The CEO affirmed, “2024 will be the last year of operating losses. The company will break even in 2025 and move towards profitability in the following years.”
