Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation were greeted at Wattay International Airport by Laos’ Minister of Energy and Mines, Phosay Sayyasone; Director General of Inspection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kaimany Orlaboune; and Deputy Director General of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Outama Sitthiphong.

Representing Vietnam were Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam, Consul General in Luang Prabang Kieu Thi Phuc Hang, Consul General in Pakse Nguyen Van Trung, Consul General in Savanakhet Dang Thi Hoai Tam, and numerous officers and staff from the embassy, as well as Vietnamese expatriates in Laos.

The 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits in Vientiane, Laos, from October 8–11, are the most important high-level events of ASEAN this year. They are attended by leaders of ASEAN, Timor-Leste, and ten ASEAN partners, along with guests from international and regional organizations.

With a proactive spirit and dedication to contributing to the collective success, the Vietnamese delegation, led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, will convey significant messages about ASEAN and its future.

Vietnam will participate in shaping ASEAN cooperation, maximizing existing cooperation mechanisms, and actively negotiating new frameworks to promote new growth drivers, suitable for the new context and trends. Particularly, Vietnam will propose ideas to foster the formation of ASEAN’s future. Simultaneously, Vietnam will emphasize ASEAN’s role in the region and on the global stage, including its participation and contribution to global issues.

Attending around 20 activities within the framework of the ASEAN Summit and related summits, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will deliver important speeches and share Vietnam’s perspectives on current issues facing ASEAN and the region. He will join other leaders in seeking directions and solutions to enhance the quality of regional cooperation and connectivity, strengthen ASEAN Community building, and promote relations between ASEAN and its partners. He will also proactively engage in discussions on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

During this visit, the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other ASEAN countries and partners to advance cooperative relationships and exchange views on shared concerns. Notably, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will meet with Laos’ high-ranking leaders to strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
