The document handover ceremony took place solemnly during the visit of General Secretary and President To Lam and UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, along with the senior leaders of the two sides.

Accordingly, SOVICO Group will be UNESCO’s strategic partner in Vietnam during the 2025 – 2035 period, in implementing UNESCO’s sustainable development initiatives in Vietnam, including supporting projects, and continuing the second phase of creative cities initiatives, including the Creative Capital of Hanoi. It will also involve promoting artistic creativity in the field of culture, especially among the youth, and advocating for the model of happy schools in the field of education, as well as other initiatives in the fields of natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities, and communication.

Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General, expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao and the leaders of the SOVICO Group for continuing their partnership with UNESCO. Previously, Mrs. Audrey Azoulay had also affirmed on several occasions that the SOVICO Group is a pioneer in supporting and promoting sustainable development through partnerships with United Nations organizations. We are very pleased with the results achieved in the previous phase of cooperation with the SOVICO Group. I believe in the capacity and commitment of the SOVICO Group to support and implement UNESCO’s initiatives and goals in Vietnam in the future.”

The strategic cooperation agreement between the SOVICO Group and UNESCO this time aims towards a long-term, comprehensive relationship, covering multiple fields, with a priority on promoting Vietnamese cultural activities through UNESCO’s Global Network of Creative Cities in Vietnam and the education program with the model of happy schools. This will create important conditions to help realize the commitments of both sides towards sustainable development initiatives and goals based on cultural, historical, and traditional values in Vietnam, with increasingly profound international influences.

Previously, in November 2021, SOVICO Group and UNESCO signed an agreement to jointly implement the project “Empowering Youth and Women to Enhance Local Connection and Benefits at UNESCO-recognized World Heritage Sites and Creative Cities in Vietnam” to support Vietnam in building Creative Cities, while also developing sustainable tourism in local communities within the North Central Heritage Corridor. In addition, in September 2020, SOVICO Group and United Nations organizations, including UNESCO, UNIDO, and UN-Habitat, cooperated to implement the “Hanoi Rethink” project to support Hanoi in becoming a creative capital in Asia. The parties have also engaged in meaningful activities such as fundraising for the COVID-19 vaccine, architecture and creative space competitions,再現 the Gia Lam Railway Factory and the Hang Dau Water Tower; supporting artistic and creative activities for disabled and autistic children, forming commercial activities, and bringing products to domestic and international customers. The agreement signed today during the visit of the General Secretary and President To Lam to UNESCO marks the beginning of a broader and more meaningful phase of cooperation.
